I Totally Forgot About That

A few weeks ago I signed up for Blogging 201. I got caught up in some of my other interests and completely forgot about it. (Ugh!) I haven’t checked my email so I even missed the reminder. I know I’m only a few days behind, but I don’t feel like playing catch up, not right now anyway. I suppose I could always forgo the days I missed and continue through until the end and then go back through it.

Nope!

That’s not like me. I made a commitment I’m going to stick with it and go back and catch up. I probably won’t catch up on all of it tonight, but I’ll catch up before weeks end.

Edit:

Well it appears that I’m not that far behind after all. Some of the assignments seem to revolve around planning and not much about writing. So I’m safe.

The Farmer’s Almanac and the Weather

I don’t often put my trust in the men and women who predict or forecast the weather, especially winter storms. In years past, the Farmer’s Almanac was usually pretty darn accurate. So when I heard that they were calling for colder and snowier weather for my area of the country this winter, I was pretty happy. (We haven’t seen much snow for the past few winters).

Since mid-November we have gotten a few storms, but they were nothing to sneeze at. An inch or two, a dusting…

“COME ON!! WHERE’S THE SNOW?!?!”, I thought.

Several winter storms later, some that never even reached the East Coast, here comes Winter Storm Iola. They started saying there’s a HUGE Nor’easter on the way with the potential of upwards of 8″ of the fluffy white stuff. We were ecstatic!

“YES! We’re finally going to get some snow!!”

For the last 3 or 4 days we’ve kept our eyes on The Weather Channel–still calling for loads of snow. We’ve also been keeping an eye on our weather app: Accuweather. According to the app it has flip-flopped from 1-3 inches to 4-8 inches. Then earlier this morning it said 1 to 3 inches possible with a trace of ice accumulating.

SAY WHAT?!?! Are you KIDDING me?!

This is EXACTLY why I don’t put my full trust in meteorologists or Punxsutawney Phil.

I do enjoy some shows and a few personalities that work at The Weather Channel, but I have always said, “They’re from Georgia. They couldn’t forecast themselves out of a wet paper bag.”

Expecting Great Things in 2015

~January 2, 2015~

Here it is, day two of a brand new year and I’m already feeling bummed out.

The past two days have been pretty rough. There’s been arguing and attitudes, raised voices and hurt feelings. God knows I didn’t want the year to start like this. So now what?

It’s time to put FAITH in action!

Things aren’t always what they appear to be. And things don’t stay the same for long. Don’t dwell on negative things or negative emotions.

Keep believing, keep your focus. God is always faithful.
The author and finisher our faith isn’t through with us yet.

Jeremiah 29:11 (NKJV) says, “For I know the thoughts that I think towards you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not evil, to give you a future and a hope.” In some versions it says, “I know the plans that I have for you…”  God has a plan for our lives. He wants to give and do good things for us.

Romans 8:28 (NKJV) says, “And we know that ALL things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.
We might be going through a rough time, but God can use those times to help us grow. Sometimes it’s for a learning experience or test of faith.

Stand firm!

“The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever.” (Isaiah 40:8)

Don’t rely on your own strength. Whatever we are facing, with God, we will make it through.

2015 is going to be an amazing year! Believe it!

Happier Days

I’m tired of
your same old ways,
making excuses
day after day.

You tell me that
you want to change,
but your ‘goal’
seems way out of range.

I’m tired of
your verbal appeasement;
proof, in action,
would be a better achievement.

Aren’t you tired
of my complaining?
I feel like you think
my words are disdaining.

How can I make it more
perfectly clear?
When it’s too late
and I’m no longer here?

If you actually gave a damn
you would do as you say.
No more excuses & lies
would make for happier days.

Can You Hear Me

Can you hear me?
Do you really care?
I hear you say you do,
but you’re not mentally there.

You focus your attention
on your computer or your phone.
I’m wanting your attention…
inaudibly I groan.

This isn’t just an occasional thing,
it seems to happen daily.
I’m broken on the inside,
but I try to smile bravely.

You tell me that you love me
and that you want to spend time together.
I think you believe you need a lot of money,
but that would take forever.

We’ve discussed this many times before,
I feel like you think it’s ‘for the birds’.
But clearly you don’t understand this:
your actions speak much louder than any of your words.

#MirthfulMonday

This world is so full of gloom and doom, and a multitude of miserable things.
So why don’t those of us who try to be more positive start a NEW trend:

#MirthfulMonday
A day of positivity, in lieu of negativity

Sure there is plenty I could be miserable about today: the gloomy sky, the rain, cold temperatures, not feeling well, etc. But I’m making a choice not to dwell on the garbage.
I would rather look on the bright side, count my blessings, and be happy.

On that note, here are 5 things I’m thankful for:

Waking up today
My wonderful family
My awesome friends
Chicken Vegetable Soup
Hot Pumpkin Spiced Tea

What are you thankful for today?

A #MirthfulMonday to you!

7 Ways To Pick Yourself Up When You’re Feeling Down

No matter how positive you try to be, inevitable problems may arise.  Your plans will not always go your way.  Or for some women, hormones will get in the way of a rather promising day or week.

You will feel lousy no matter how optimistic a person you are.

Here are ways to counter that abysmal feeling and feel great any day.
